| Javea
is situated in the
north of Alicante province, between Cabo San Antonio and Cabo La Nao.
This popular resort is often referred to as the jewel in the crown of
the Costa Blanca and it is easy to see why. The World Health
Organisation once named it as having one of the healthiest
climates in the world, enjoying more recorded hours of sunshine than any
other place in Spain.
Javea has a relaxing
and typically Spanish atmosphere with many contrasting features from the
historic old town to the port and beach areas with their variety of
restaurants and bars. The old town retains much of its medieval past
including narrow winding streets, small squares and the 15th century
church of San Bartolome in Plaza de la Inglesia. Other areas of interest
include the food market, cultural centre, Museum of Archaeology and the
chapel of Santa Ana - all within easy reach of our apartment.
The old fishing port
is full of character and together with the marina is one of the main
tourist areas of the town.
The popular sandy
Arenal beach is in a sheltered bay. It has a long, attractive promenade
and there are many shops and boutiques selling a wide range of quality
goods, beach wear and accessories.
The Arenal area has
many excellent bars and restaurants to suit every taste, serving most
European cuisines. At night the bars come to life, offering a good mix
of music and entertainment.
Javea's most
distinctive feature is the mountain known locally as "the Montgo".
This provides a dramatic backdrop for the resort and those who live
locally swear blind it's an elephant ,turned to stone, with it's trunk
dipping into the sea for a drink. When the sun goes down you can even
see it's eye. For the energetic there are paths to the top of Montgo,
but there are also nature trails and walks in the surrounding area and
headland.
This popular and
exclusive destination also offers a wide range of activities. These
include golf, sailing, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, wind
surfing, tennis, go- karting, horse riding, bird watching and
walking.
